Hansard (Parliamentary Debates)
Hansard is a substantially verbatim record of the debates in Parliament. The official publication of Hansard in Tasmania began in 1979. Prior to this, Parliamentary debates were published in The Mercury (newspaper).

- Note that there is usually a direct link to the Second Reading speech on the home page for each bill from 2009 onwards.

- Prior to 1979, Parliamentary debates were published in The Mercury. Digitised versions are available on Trove. If you have a specific reference, you can browse by date.

- The advanced search allows you to run a full text search. You can limit your search to one or more individual newspapers, or to all newspapers in a particular state. You can also search within a specified date range.

Votes & Proceedings / Journals
The Votes & Proceedings / Journals are the official record of proceedings in Parliament (i.e. the minutes).

- The advanced search gives some extra options, including the ability to limit your search to the last 7 days, last month etc (use the ‘return files updated’ drop down list)

Trove |
- Trove includes records of publications held in Australian libraries and available online (along with many other resources). Some Parliamentary Committee reports are catalogued individually. If a committee report is not available online, you may be able to locate a print copy in a library.

- Coverage: 1898-
- Note that this is an index, not a full text database. Records will include the author, title, parliamentary paper number, report type and a subject heading (e.g. forestry).
- To search, enter your keywords in the search box and select ‘Parliamentary Papers Index’ instead of ‘Entire Site’ from the drop-down menu. An advanced search is also available.
- Entries from 2009 onwards usually contain a link to the full text of the paper / report.

- Trove includes records of publications held in Australian libraries and available online (along with many other resources). Some Parliamentary Papers are catalogued individually.
- Use the Parliamentary Papers Index as described above, then use that information to locate a print copy in a library using Trove.
